Get involved in our Moving Forward Survey
The Sports Trust
15/03/2024
Help us move towards a more active, inclusive and inspiring future. The Moving Forward survey is distributed every two years and allows us to capture a diverse picture of the needs and wants of the local community.
We work with diverse communities to create accessible and engaging opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to engage in physical activity.
We’ll use your feedback to identify barriers people face to being more active and to understand what we can do as a charity to make sport and exercise more inclusive and inspiring for everyone.
How the Moving Forward survey has influenced our community projects:
Active 50
Our first survey in 2016 identified that people aged 50+ had significantly less opportunities to be active. With the information gathered in the survey, we launched Active 50, a weekly timetable of physical activity for this age group with sessions adapted to be inclusive to everyone. The project had an emphasis on community and friendship. Seven years on and there has been over 500 people trying an Active 50 session, with many people staying with the programme for the full seven years.
Holiday camps
Our survey in 2018 produced signfiicant data which highlighted the gaps in affordable childcare – and pointed towards the growing concerns that families who relied on free school meals would go hungry during the holidays. Since then, we’ve been seeking funding to support local families to access high-quality sporting experiences. With the power of Marcus Rashford, this has been transformed into the HAF programme where we are able to provide 2182 children every year with hot food and an awesome enrichment programme.
Shred club
In 2021, fresh off the back of the pandemic, we wanted to improve the number of opportunities that local children had to be active. With the opening of Folkestone 51 looming, we launched Shred Club, a £1 a month skateboarding membership for local school children, to ensure that F51 was accessible to children growing up nearby and to help encourage the next generation of skaters. In the last year alone, we’ve had 1271 Shred Club sessions.
