Active SELF

Physical Activity for People Experiencing Mental Health Issues

Delivered in partnership with South Kent MIND, Active SELF is a weekly programme of sport and physical activities aimed at increasing physical and social activity.

Taking place at our accessible venues Three Hills Sports Park and F51, we use a qualified coaching team who represent the community they are delivering to. They ensure that sessions accommodate all abilities, and are delivered in a relaxed and fun way with emphasis on reducing anxiety and nervousness.

People who engage in physical activity are far less likely to experience loneliness.

Active SELF is part of an overall package of support which includes guidance and advice delivered by South Kent MIND. Supporting on areas such as training, education and employment, the package focuses on helping participants become more aware of what is available within their communities to support with long term wellbeing.

Active Self Fitness

Key Benefits

We know of the huge benefits that being active has on our physical health, but those benefits impact our mental health positively too. People that join Active SELF are more likely to have reduced stress levels, happier moods and increased self-esteem, all whilst benefiting from improved sleep and increased energy levels.

Connecting with People

Part of the Active SELF programme is receiving free drinks in the venues cafe after each session. This allows for participants to get to know each other better and offers the opportunity to socialise with other local people of a similar age. This helps to address issues a number of people face due to social isolation and loneliness following the pandemic.

Variety of Activities

A dynamic range of activities are available, created from the feedback of participants. Due to popular demand, Active SELF offers yoga, pilates, table tennis, football, boxercise, pickleball and walking.

Boosts Confidence

Joining Active SELF is not only an opportunity to try something new and improve fitness, but also provides a chance to meet new people and have fun.
