We create inclusive and inspiring environments for people to love sport and exercise, whatever their motivations may be.
We work in Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh, creating accessible opportunities for everybody to feel the benefits of sport and exercise. As a not-for-profit charity, we engage schools, sports clubs and the local community to dismantle barriers to sport, championing a belief that sport and exercise are essential components to a healthy and united society.
“The Sports Trust has supported Hawkinge Hurricanes RC since day one. We are just a small club with big ambitions and The Sports Trust has always helped us to push our goals and break boundaries. We have received financial support, advice, learning, promotion and amazing awards but, most of all, knowing that The Sports Trust team is behind us has allowed us to develop and improve into a great community club and link with other like-minded groups and individuals.”
Venues
“F51 is our unique and exciting venue, proudly operated by The Sports Trust. With our shared values and ambitious vision we will collectively create engaging and inclusive opportunities in the heart of Folkestone. We believe in local people, and will ensure that all profits generated by the venue will be injected directly back into the community. Together with The Sports Trust, we will strive to make skateboarding BMXing, climbing and boxing accessible to all regardless of age, gender, ability or background.”
Sports Academies
“I have always had a dream to experience academy football, to experience how professional footballers play and train. The coaching side of academy football has given me an insight into what it might be like to one day be a professional.”
Schools
“We deliver a comprehensive timetable of coaching and competitions to every school in the Folkestone and Hythe district, to inspire and encourage young people to build a life-long love for sport. We embed physical activity within the culture of every school, with a multitude of benefits for young people. From improving student wellbeing and creating a sense of belonging, to developing employability skills and increasing educational attainment. Our work in schools shares an important message that sport is for everyone.”
Communities
“In 2017 personal circumstances encouraged me to look for new interests, an opportunity to meet new people and generally have some fun. I was fortunate enough to participate in classes at the inception of Active 50 and I have never looked back! There are varied exercise classes tailored to 'more mature' people, all to keep us fit but essentially mainly for enjoyment. Additionally I have made some wonderful friends enjoying tea after sessions and other larger scale social events.”
